Hercegovina (Herzegovina) is a southern region of Bosna i Hercegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina).


Most important city of Herzegovina is Mostar. The name of the city comes from the famous Old bridge (Bridge=Most).

Old bridge connects two city sides (east-west side of the city or left and right riverside). River that goes under the Old bridge is called Neretva.

Picture on the left represents historical COSACICHC sign (Coat of Arms Kosača). The name Herzegovina means "duke's land", referring to the medieval duchy of Stjepan Vukčić Kosača who took title "Herzeg of Saint Sava". Herceg is derived from the German title Herzog.
